I’m New Zealand Born Artist, just because…x (aka Sarah Aslin). Emerging from the deep south of New Zealand, I’ve been blessed to be based in Wanaka for years but recently decided to spread my wings, so I’m currently exploring this beautiful wide world we inhabit.
I just love being creative! it’s definitely a way of life for me. I’m inspired by the world around me, friends, family, strangers, mountains, music, trees, the birds and the bees and all the other glorious parts of life.
My main focus for the artwork is to evoke a positive feeling with the viewer, in the hope, that this will stay with them and spread the positive vibes thru their world. I’m constantly humbled by the response I get towards my artwork. Seeing it catch peoples eye, and a smile spreads across their face as the walk by, that makes it all worth it.
I love drawing, its one of my happy places. I find escaping into a fresh canvas a refreshing journey with an unknown destination each and every time.
All of my images are original freehand drawings, using mainly fine point ink, (depending on the project.) I enjoy the exploration of different canvas including stone, wood, and other various recycled materials. Creating a unique and individual piece each time.
When I put something to print, each image is hand printed and signed by myself, I complete every step of the process to maintain the intention that has been lovingly implanted in my work. I have also created some clothing including organic cotton tee shirts, hoody’s and one of a kind recycled/upcycled clothing.
Although a small flower in the flourishing Garden, that is the New Zealand arts scene just because…x is popping up here and there, contributing to the KiwiDiary 2014, 15 and 16, also appearing in home style magazine (april/may 2014), and now have the honor of contributing to Te Whare Pora – The weaving house, this coming april in Wanaka.
