This old-fashioned looking necklace features two antiqued silver key pendants and an enamelled, silver and red shield pendant bearing a lion and crown.
The shield charm, made of sturdy metal and enamel, depicts a crowned lion above an elaborate crown which is in fact the Imperial Crown of England. 'Statant', meaning 'standing', is the heraldic term for the lion's position: standing on all four legs, with its head erect, and its tasselled tail carried over its back. The lion and crown are 'argent' (silver) in colour, on a 'field' (background) of maroon. The back of the charm is smooth, flat, and shiny silver.
The ornate key pendants are made of pewter, plated with silver, then antiqued or aged to give a vintage look.
These three pendants hang from a strong, steel based, silver plated chain that has been antiqued to give it a vintage look. The necklace fastens with a high quality, lobster-claw clasp, which can be clipped on at any point on the chain, making the necklace easily adjustable.
The 'Randel' necklace is a limited edition Silverlight Jewellery design. 'Randel' is a medieval name; a diminutive of 'Randolf' and other names that begin with the Germanic element 'rand' meaning 'rim (of a shield)'.
The necklace measures 44.1cm, including the lobster-claw clasp.
The shield charm measures 28mm lengthwise, including the baile (the little hanging loop at the top), and 15mm across. The key charms measure 34mm and 36mm long, including their bailes.
