Hi, I am Sonia and welcome to my Paper Petals NZ page.
I genuinely believe that most of us (myself included) tread far too heavily on this fragile earth. We use resources like we are the only ones that need them, and what’s left we pollute or destroy. Unfortunately for a large proportion of cut flowers currently in the market (New Zealand or any other country) the ecological and environmental footprint is enormous. But oh, how I love flowers.
Flowers feed the soul and the senses, and fill the heart with hope
Paper Petals came about because of a desire to bring the joy of flowers into peoples lives and at the same time creating an environmentally responsible, long lasting and simply beautiful product. Paper Petals blooms do not draw excessively on precious water resources as often happens in the cut flower industry. Nor do Paper Petals blooms arrive into New Zealand from across the other side of the world clocking up a huge airmile bill every year. They do not require dipping in herbicide and pesticide for 20 minutes to kill them before being distributed out to unaware customers in shops, as happens to almost 65% of cut flowers available for sale in New Zealand.
They are all coloured, cut, formed and finished by hand – my hand – and delivered to you with love, care and attention in every individual bloom. And just like in nature, each bloom is an individual. No two are ever the same; there are blemishes, colour variations, the odd petal that is slightly wayward. And that’s exactly how I like them.
